What do you want to say to your classmates before the class finishes?
What have you learned from your classmates?
When I met my classmates, we did not have any friendship so I did talk with my classmates. But we spent about 2 months. Today most classmates talked each other and I think we got friendship.
And we discussed a lot so we had to make friendship. Also our class has not much students. I think we had 5 essays. When I made essays, I got a lot of writing skills. But I need to more practice because next level is higher than EAP 98. And blog stuff is good for me. If I have time, I will write continuously. And I need to do reading lap so I want to finish the reading lap until next Monday. Lastly I hope sometimes we should meet at TCC.

presentation

Gender
Today we took a presentation class about gender because we have last essay for that so we had to take that presentation. The presenter was Robin Echtle. She presented about gender like man or woman. When began the presentation, we introduced our name and gender such as i`m seong du and i`m man. And she asked us. What is different between man and woman. People answered. After that, she explained. Man part was paying, no crying, strong and wild… and woman part was fickle, sensitive, emotional and dramatic. And she compared two things. I knew gender`s functions but today I learned more. And I have to make an essay about that. However, finding topic is very difficult. After speech, we got survey paper and I did. Her presentation was very good. If I have another opportunity, I want to listen again.

almost the end of quarter

It`s almost the end of the quarter. What do you still want to learn or do in class before the end of the quarter?
Spring quarter is almost done. We have two more weeks for learning English skills. While I was studying reading and writing, I learned a lot of skills. For example, research essay was very interested. And I learned through the Plato. The Plato was good for me but a few systems were strange. And I wrote several essays that were really hard for me. In addition, reading lab has a lot of stuff for students. Next quarter, I think I will learn another book at that time I will study more and I will get better score. Finally, I hope to get good grades when quarter finish.

reading skills

Speed reading
Today I attended an interesting class that was 95 reading class. I did not know about that class but I was very interested. And I met my friend who is Izac. The teacher taught us about reading. First he told us time reading. For example, we had to read one page on 10 second. That was very hard for me. After that I had to tell story to my partner. Time was reduced 10, 8, 6 and 4 second. I and my friend tried to read again and again. I think most people got smile because the class was very strange but we could get reading skills. I think I really need to get reading skills and I tried to read some easy books but that time was very hard for me. However I have to read continuously because I have not enough vocabularies. After two quarter, I have to take reading 95 so I really need a lot of vocabularies. Every day I wanted to read some books but I did not know about speed reading skills. I think today the class gave me a lot of information so I will try read again with the skills.

In addition this quarter I got research skills. The research studying is very helpful for me. Before my writing had a lot of mistake like fragment, subject verb and run on mistakes. But I think I improved and I felt when I got my score. However I have to study more because college level is more difficult than EAP class so I want to study more. And I could write 4 or 5 paragraph that had introduction, body and conclusion. I think if I have 4 or 5paragraph assignment in Korean, I will probably get too many mistakes. And I like free writing because this is easy and does not care about grammar and spelling so I really like this stuff. This free writing gave me a habit that I usually write diary in English. I think EAP 98 class has 2 more weeks, so I will study hard for my good grades.

What is the most difficult thing for you about reading in English? Do you like reading?
I hate reading but I have to do. When I took first class at TCC, I did not know about books and reading. Little by little, I realized about reading. Grammar is not bad but I always have reading problems. For example, when I read my reading assignment in my EAP 98, it was really hard for me. After that time, I decided that I try to read a lot of book every time. Nowadays I got little bit books and already read. In addition when I read a book, I had some difficult parts. I`m international student so I do not know American culture. However, lots of books include American culture so I was very hard. And phrasal verb is very difficult. Verb had a lot of meaning. When I tried to translate, I was confused and difficult. I have to read a lot but reading is not too easy. I want to take regular class so I will try and I will study about culture and verb functions.

What classes do you want to take in the future and why?
I will take any kind classes. When I took first class at TCC, I wanted to take business. Business is good for me because that class can transfer to university. However my mind changed that I do not need to transfer. I just want to get TCC`s graduation. If I have enough money, I can stay more but I have to make money for my future so I should come back to Korea and find my job. After 2years, my age will be 28years that is Korean age. Most Korean want to get marry when they are 30 or 31. Anyway I have to pass at TCC early so I want to get general degree. I will make 90 credits at TCC. That way is easier for me. And I wanted to take business so if I have an opportunity, I will take that class. My major is international trade so I want to take that class. Studying in America is very difficult but If I got TCC graduation, I can find my job easier in Korea. I hope to get good grades.

Test
Most people do not like to take test. However test is very important because test can measure every people` abilities. When I took my first test, I really liked but little by little test was difficult for me. After that I did not like to take test. Nowadays lots of jobs require and measure through tests so we have to learn and study. In the world, most people want to get nice jobs which are high salary and easier jobs. And nowadays, I really worry about English tests because if I failed I have to retake so I have to do well. Two days ago, I took my grammar test and I hoped to get good score. However I got so so. Next time I will make better score for me. Always tests make nervous and tired. I think I have too many tests before I got job. I hope to get one that reducing stress. Besides, I want to get good score after testing every times. When I took drive license in Washington, I was very nervous but I passed so I hope to pass every test in Washington states.

English

English
English is important for me because if I want to get my job, English is essential. Most of the companies which are in Korea want English skills. Korea does not have natural materials so Korea has to tread with other countries. In addition, English is public language in the world. If I will make to business with some counties, I have to speak English. Since I was young, most Korean learned English but people can not speak English. Because education is different. When I was high school student, my teacher taught about grammar. I never spoke to English. When I came here, I was really hard to speak with other people. Now I got little bit speaking skills. If I did not come here, I think I will never learn to speak. And I want to tell to my friend how did I learn English and i want my friends` English skills are going to improve themselves. Little by little English is difficult because English has a lot of rules. I hate punctuation. Anyway I want to get high English skills while I staying in America. And I want to get my job in Korea.

Driving
Korea people are very busy and hurry so when I was driving in Korea, I was really nervous. I have little bit long time took car because I got a drive license 6years ago in Korea. But I did not have any cars but I usually took my parents` car. When I was driving, a lot of people pushed me so I did not want to drive but little by little I became like other people. However I arrived in America 1year ago. At that time, I really needed drive license because I wanted to drive and I needed ID. However I was very confused because here has a lot of strong laws. For example, when school bus stopped on the road, I must stop. Korea does not have school so I did not understand about that. Anyway I got Washington state license. I think everything is different between Korea and America. Another example, parking lot size is little bit bigger than Korea. By the way, America has really strong laws because here is too many different kinds of people so America has to have. I hope to get more strong laws because Korean need to get relaxed.

How Do You Like?

On raining day, what would happen if you are waiting to somebody on the street. Most people do not want to wet their body. How will you avoid a lot of raining? I am an international student. In December 2008, I arrived in America for studying English. At that time, I did not have a car, so my cousin usually took me to go to school and home. One day that day had a lot of rain but my cousin who had really important meeting, so I had to wait for while on the street. After that happen, I could get a new hobby.


Nowadays, I often go to coffee shop. When I stayed in Korea, I though coffee shop was just drink some beverage after eating. I realized my thought was wrong. Most people who live in Northwest have relaxed because here has a lot of rain, so people need to avoid rain. When I was waiting my cousin, I just stood on the smoking area which could avoid rain. My cousin saw me that and he told me, “You can go any coffee shop like Starbucks or other place.” After that, I tried to go Starbucks and I used that place.


However, I had simple problems that I could not speak well. When I went to Starbucks, I could not order completely because there had a lot of menu. I never had been Starbucks in Korea, so I did not know how I should order. Fortunately, I went to there with my friend who could speak English and like coffee. I could order through my friend. First time I tried to drink just regular Americano, but that was really bitter.


After that, I never had drunk Americano, but I usually drink another one that is caramel macchiato. I think most of people like caramel macchiato that is little bit sweet and soft. Before drink coffee, I did not know about coffee, but now I knew and I learn about coffee. Last summer, my friend was drinking a cup of coffee that was Frappuccino. I was curious and I tried little bit. That was really cool and almost same with caramel macchiato because that one was caramel Frappuccino. I could have another favorite coffee through friend, so now I have two kinds of my favorite coffee.


I did not know coffee and I could not order some coffee. However, I learned America culture and coffee. In addition, If I have to wait my cousin or my friend on raining day, I can avoid rain and get relaxed time. Getting new things can change mind and can improve my ability. Besides, I hope to learn another interesting thing.

South Korea has ceasefire with North Korea. South Korea has a law that all of man must take any type military for 2 years. If they will not take military, they will get a lot of disadvantages. When I was 20 years old, I did application for taking army. At that time, my age was adult and I wanted a lot of free but I did not. Anyway, Korea army accepted my application so I just joined the army without my family, friend, everything. And I learned too many things about army. The military has too many dangerous things like guns, bombs and enemies so I had to be careful for 2years. Sometimes some of the soldiers got injuries because they did not do watch out. Korea military and America military are different everything. For example, our military is duty but America is just job so base is different. When I was military, I really wanted to get vacation but I got just 30 days for 2years. In addition, we had little money for allowance but the money was just 50 dollars per 1 month. However, I learned a lot of experiences about wisdoms so I do not want to regret.

my future goal

Nowadays, most people need to earn money for their life. They want to learn anything for making money. I like to travel if i have enough money. My goal is making money, so i`m studying English and staying in America. i want to get nice job for my future. There are two reason why i have to graduate college or unversity : to get nive job and to get experience.

first of all, i have to study English.
Learning is important for my future and most of Korea companies want high level English skills because Korea has a lot of trade companies. When they need to make business, they need people who got English skills. if i do not have English skills, i can not join high level companies which can get a lot of money. Some of people do not care about that.

second, i have to get some experience.
Experience is important for my future, so i need to travel. Traveling is very helpful for me. For example, my friend who does not have a lot of experince always wants to help from other people. if other people do not want to help him, he have to wait or ask his favor to another person. if i who got a lot of experence have emergency, i can solve myself.

To sum up, challenging is important to improve my future. if i do not have purpose, i just live common person. however, i do not want common person so i have to study and gather a lot of experience. therefore, i will get purpose untill death.

weather

i really like sunny days but not too hot. my country has four seasons which have spring, summer, fall and winter. when i was young, i was usually going out and playing games with my friends. but little by little i like raining day because i like a sound when rain drop on the all kind of stuff. like on the car`s roof something like that. anyway, i`m living for 1year in Washington steate and i got experience about a lot of raining days. first time i did not like wasington weather because i never seen too much raining in Korea. however, i adapted in washington weather. i think here air is very clean. most people do not use umbrella. they were just getting wet. i did not understand that but i realized why people do not use the umbrella because air is clean so rain is clean too. but when i was driving on the freeway, i was really hard to drive. when i was driving, i could not see my way because of other cars made water whirlpool. after that, i should be careful if i drive. nowadays, i saw too much raining days so i want to see sunny day.

Base ball

i like all of sports game and i love baseball. Seattle has a team that is Mariners. MLB season began yesterday so i want to go Safeco field. Baseball game can enjoy a lot of things. For example, i can drink some cups of beer with food. when i was watching a game in the Safeco field, i saw some of people to drink beer and chicken. At that time, the season was summer so i was very hot and getting sweat. but drink helped me for watching the game. other sport game should not drink beer in Korea. But i have no idea in America. Anyway baseball is really dynamic when i see a home run. In MLB, my favorite team is Indiana because Indiana has a Korean player whose name is Choo so i hope to go to field when Indiana come to Seattle. In addition, baseball has another interesting thing. when i was watching baseball in Korea, i could see cheer leaders who are all of beautiful girls. Last year, i did not watch my team`s game because i`m still staying in America. when i return to Korea, i will go to baseball field.

Fast food

I do not like fast foods because those are too bad for our health. when i stay in Korea, i never ate them. in addition, I Korea has a lot of foods so i do not need to go to fast food`s store but here is not, most people like fast foods because those can get easy and little cheap. After coming here, i was so hungry and my friend too so we just goes McDonald`s and i just tried a bugger that was Bigmac. i had a lot of negative mind about bugger's, but now my mind was changed. Nowadays. most people are worrying to eat fast foods, but people still take them, me too. if i who got hungry and hurry have really important meeting, i have to take fast foods that is easier. however, i think we have to eat little bit. if people too many times eat the fast food, people are going to get disease. here is solution that i usually take Subway there has a lot of green stuff like vegetable. i think Subway is better than other fast food store, so when you are hungry, you just go to Subway.

big mistake

when i went to art museum in Seattle with my friend, i had big mistake that i forgot my pant`s
zipper. when i was watching work of art, i needed to go to restroom so i went to there. After that, i forgot uping the zipper but i did not know. i was walking on the road, lots of people were looking at me but i did not know why people were looking at me. i thought. Today am i hansome?
that was my illusion. A few minute later somebody wanted to talk to me. he said, "you are supposed to check you pants." i answerd, "what are you talking about." but he was just going his was. i was watching the arts again but little bit later i heard same speaking and i checked my pants. oops...i did not have zip up. my pants were opening for some while. i asked to my friend but he did not know too. i was very shame and i was running to restroom. moreover, my friend was laughing. After that time, i have a habit that i always check my pants and zipper. Nowadays, i have no same mistake so i am happy.
